Would highly recommend
“From our first discussion with Martin all went very smoothly no hard sell. We had a plan worked out and within four weeks our solar panels were installed by two great guys who worked diligently in extremely hot weather. They took away all the rubbish and made sure everything was as before, then showed me how to log into the app and how to use it, It's very easy. Would definitely recommend them. All in all couldn't believe how easy it was from start to finish.”

“Very smooth and quick process getting our new Solar Panels installed. Consultation pre-sales with Hassan was clear and dare I say, fun. Post-installation he remains an excellent source of support and information. Installation by Kyle and his colleagues was professional, clean, efficient, and they were all really good people to deal with. Friendly and informative.”

FAQS

Common questions

Can't see your question here? Call us on 0333 772 4816 and we'll talk it through.

?How does Solar Haven Energy work?
Solar Haven Energy arranges your solar installation. We're not the installer ourselves: installations are carried out by an MCS certified installation company we know well and trust. When you ask for a quote, and with your permission, we pass your details to our installation partner. They contact you, survey your home and give you a written quote. Solar Haven Energy stays your point of contact, so if anything isn't right, you can come back to us.
?Is the quote really free?
Yes. There's no cost and no obligation to go ahead. Fill in the short form or give us a call. We'll ask about your home, your roof and your energy bills, then talk you through the system size and battery that would suit you. If you're happy, we book a survey to check your roof, your wiring and where the inverter and battery would go. You then get a written quote with everything included, and you can take as long as you need to decide.
?Will solar work on my roof?
Most UK roofs are suitable. South-facing roofs generate the most, and east- and west-facing roofs still work well, spreading generation across the morning and afternoon. North-facing roofs usually aren't worth it. Shade from chimneys, trees or nearby buildings matters, so we check it during the survey. Where there's partial shade we can fit panel optimisers, so one shaded panel doesn't drag down the rest. Our installers fit on tiled, slate and flat roofs. Most home installations in England don't need planning permission, but listed buildings and some conservation areas can, and we'll check this for you.
?Do I need a battery?
No, but for most homes it makes a big difference. Without a battery, any solar power you don't use during the day is exported to the grid. Most homes use the most electricity in the evening, after the sun has gone down. A battery stores your spare daytime solar so you can use it in the evening. It can also charge from the grid overnight on a cheaper tariff and power your home at peak times. If you're not ready for a battery yet, your installer can fit a hybrid inverter, so one can be added later without replacing your system.
?Do solar panels work on cloudy days and in winter?
Yes. Panels generate from daylight, not heat, so they still produce power on cloudy days, just less than in full sun. In fact, panels run slightly more efficiently when it's cool. Most of your yearly generation happens from spring to autumn, with less in the darker winter months. A battery helps you make the most of whatever your panels generate, whatever the weather.
?How much could I save?
It depends on your roof, your system size, how much electricity you use, when you use it and your energy tariff. Homes that use more power during the day, or that add a battery to use their solar in the evening, usually save the most. Selling spare power through the Smart Export Guarantee adds to your savings. When we call with your quote, we'll give you an estimate based on your home and your bills, not a general figure.
?Can I spread the cost?
Yes. We offer 0% interest-free finance, with terms from 5 to 25 years. Whichever term you choose, it's 0% APR, so you pay back exactly what your system costs and never pay any interest. Choose "0% finance" in the quote form and we'll go through the options with you. Finance is subject to status and affordability.
?How long does installation take?
Most home installations are finished in one to two days. Scaffolding usually goes up a day or two before work starts and comes down afterwards. On the day, the installer fits the panels, the inverter and any battery, then tests and commissions the system. Your electricity only needs to be switched off for a short time while we connect everything.
?Who will install my system?
Our MCS certified installation partner. They are an MCS registered installation company that we know well, and we only pass your details to them with your permission. They survey your home, design the system, fit the panels, inverter and battery, and complete the electrical work and testing. Your installer notifies your network operator (DNO), registers your installation with MCS and sets up the monitoring app on your phone. Solar Haven Energy stays your point of contact throughout.
?What is MCS?
MCS stands for the Microgeneration Certification Scheme. It's the UK's quality mark for small-scale renewable energy, such as home solar panels and batteries. It certifies both the installer and the products. An MCS certified installer has been assessed on how they design, install and commission systems, and has to follow MCS standards on every job. Panels, inverters and batteries are tested and certified too. MCS installers must also belong to a consumer code such as RECC or HIES, which protects your deposit and gives you a complaints route if something goes wrong. When your system is finished, it's registered on the MCS database and you receive an MCS certificate.
?Why does MCS matter?
MCS is the UK's quality standard for home solar and battery installations. It checks that both the installer and the products meet industry standards. When your system is finished you get an MCS certificate. You need it to sign up for the Smart Export Guarantee, which is how your energy supplier pays you for the solar power you send back to the grid. The certificate is also useful proof of a proper installation if you ever sell your home.
?What warranties do I get?
Panels usually come with long manufacturer warranties, often 25 years or more. Inverters and batteries are typically covered for around 10 years. The exact terms depend on the products in your quote, and we'll list them clearly. If anything ever goes wrong, call us and we'll help get it sorted with your installer and the manufacturer.
?Can you install bigger or commercial systems?
Yes. We install systems of any size, from small homes to large houses, farms and commercial buildings such as offices, shops, warehouses and factories. Bigger systems are designed around your roof space and how much electricity you use during the day. Your installer handles the network operator (DNO) application, which larger systems need before installation. Call us or fill in the quote form and tell us about your property.
?Is there VAT on solar panels and batteries?
No. Solar panels and batteries installed in homes are currently zero-rated for VAT in Great Britain, so you pay 0% VAT. This is set to run until 31 March 2027. The prices in our quotes already take this into account.
